This issue straddles two important events – LGBT History Month which is just drawing to a close, and International Women’s Day on 8 March. We feature both, and have been involved with both at a more grass roots level.
Velvet was at the launch of LGBT History Month in Cambridge on 1 February, and Velvet Editor Naomi Young, V G Lee, and this issue’s interviewee Fiona Cooper will be reading at Spit Lit on 4 March 2007 in London.

Lesbian Evolution! Interview with Fiona Cooper
 | “[Writing is] about affirming who you are, that it’s all right to be you."
Alys Henley-Einion interviewed Fiona Cooper at YLAF, October 2006
"I’ve done the whole thing, been on Gay Pride, and I was involved in the peace movement in the 70s. But I don’t feel as if I have to make statements any more."
