Velvet Magazine Submission Guidelines
| Due to the lack of lesbian-specific publications, we currently only accept submissions of poetry and short fiction from self-identified lesbians. Some exceptions will be made for submissions of non-fiction articles. Please contact the Editor for details. We accept submissions of poetry, short fiction (max 2,000 words), and non-fiction articles on matters in keeping with the usual content of Velvet. Acceptance is at the discretion of the Editor and all pieces are subject to our usual proofreading and editing process. We recommend emailing the Editor at editor@velvet-mag.co.uk prior to sending non-fiction articles, to discuss content and length. Currently we are not able to pay any of our contributors, but you will receive a free copy of the issue in which your work appears. We encourage writers to subscribe to the magazine or at least purchase the current copy, so that they may see our style and decide if they fit in and want to be a part of it. We are also always on the look out for artwork and editorial skills. If you want to get involved, drop us a line.
